Level 2: Revision / Substantive Edit

Recommended for: Polished drafts
Have you completed a manuscript to the best of your ability but feel it needs the critical eye of an editor before you submit it to a publisher or self-publish it? Has the manuscript become too unwieldy that you no longer understand what you were trying to do? Finished a story and want to know if it makes sense as a whole? Then you need Revision.
During Revision, also called a Substantive Edit, an editor engages in a thorough examination and, if necessary, reworking of your completed manuscript. Unlike a Story Review, which is an appraisal of your manuscript, Revision allows a professional editor to dive into your story to examine the deeper storytelling mechanics, such as structure, flow, point-of-view, tone, style, characters, setting, plot, theme, symbolism, dialogue, scenes, and presentation, and make the necessary improvements and suggestions for changes.
While a professional editor will make improvements to your manuscript, you, as the author, always have the option to not accept these changes because, after all, it is your story. As always, you can trust that A. R. Levett will be sensitive with your story and respect your rights as its author.
In Revision, A. R. Levett:
A. R. Levett offers Revision for both fiction and non-fiction manuscripts. Please enquire to determine whether your manuscript is suitable for Revision.
So you can assess his services, A. R. Levett offers free sample Revision of your manuscript (see services table for sample length)

"Recently I was lucky enough to have won first prize in a draw Andrew was kind enough to have offered FAWWA, its members, and associates. The prize was a revision of 3,000 words from some of my writing. In revising my work, Andrew has demonstrated to me what I believe is the high level of professional understanding that is needed for my writing to one day soon reach its best. Andrew was kind enough to go much further out of his way to answer all my questions, which were many. I feel he has a broader understanding of life's variable nature - which I also feel is important for an editor to be able to get properly in touch with any person’s writing message or content. For any struggling wanna-be author like myself, a person of Andrew's experience and skill set is definitely the way forwards." – Thomas
