Laboro
They welcome you enthusiastically, offering financial security, a modern social network, and a direction in life. At first, it’s wonderful. They praise and encourage your efforts, provide a sense of accomplishment, and evoke feelings of importance. And eventually they promote you. This recognition is so crucial that you focus your undivided attention, dedicate every waking hour and haemorrhage your essence for them.
Eventually, the tenacity of their farce becomes apparent: you’re a cog in their lucrative operation. When they’re not submerged in prosperity, the fallacy of their charade shows: they bare their fangs and unleash their stinger, callusing your core. But by then they’ve lured you into slavery, shortened your leash, and dismissed your rights, not only as an employee, but as a human being. Childish bitterness replaces the warmth they once offered.
When you resist, daring to question their methods, they confiscate everything they furnished upon you. First, they pilfer your wages, restrict your holidays, and then demote you. When you won’t resign, they bully, they harass, they abuse. If you tolerate that, then they exploit loopholes to negate your worth.
And when you finally submit to their policies, everything you accomplished, every fibre you devoted, transforms, crystallising as hatred.
