Mother Nature's Dilemma

Written by A. R. Levett

Published in Petrichor (2025)

she cries
for the woes
that have befallen her
a plague of busyness
that once began
so promising

her tears soak the soil
unleash petrichor
and as drops
grow into streams
streams into rivers
rivers into seas

she shivers
with a flicker of hope
that her sadness
might wash away
her greatest creation—
her most destructive
mistake
